Two of the biggest teams in basketball history with a total of 32 championships out of the 63 in NBA history are facing each other in the 2010 NBA Finals. The Lakers have won 15 and the Celtics have won 17.
In Tuesday’s game 3 the Celtics guard Ray Allen missed his first 12 attempts which ranks as the second worst 0-fer perfomance in Finals history. He missed eight – 3 pointers and handed the Lakers a 91-84 victory at the TD Garden.
Derek Fisher said “We obviously didn’t expect him to go 0-for-13, but it’s a tough gig for him to be honest, to run around, offensively the way he has to and then have to guard Kobe on the other end. I mean, that takes anybody’s legs out. It takes my legs out chasing him.”
An interesting difference between the teams that has been picked on is the fact that the Celtics have no international players while the Lakers have three; Sasha Vujacic (Solvenia),, Pau Gasol (Spain) and Didier Llunga-Mbenga (Congo).
To see how influential international players can be just look at the San Antonio Spurs domination of the NBA finals in 2003, 2005 and 2007 when they had 5 foreign players.
